The fund aims to:
Assist a person or group, who may be facing a natural disaster and/or going through a particularly difficult circumstance where assistance is needed.
Assist families in time of natural disaster – fire, flood etc.
Assist the elderly, the young, or any family or person for their particular need.
The following is required:
Must be a RWNZ member, or have a RWNZ apply on behalf.
Applicants should send detailed reasons for seeking financial assistance, including the name, address and phone number of a referee who may be contacted if necessary.
Applications may be made on behalf of another person or group.
This fund is ongoing, with no closing date.
The duration is for one year, with the grant amount being $1,000.

The fund aims to:
Assist individuals, communities and groups, with a particular emphasis on rural women and children, who are in urgent need due to a declared adverse event such as drought, fires, floods or earthquakes.
Individuals and community groups who have experienced financial hardship due to the consequences of an adverse event.
Provide assistance in times of natural disaster.

The fund aims to:
Assist individuals, groups and organisations in country areas and rural towns. Grants are made for projects and activities in the following categories: children, care, elderly, community, conservation, counselling and education.
Assistance is needed in the following categories: The welfare of children and the elderly. Community, Conservation, Education.
The following are those that WILL NOT be considered:
Housing, buildings, religion, employment, justice, hui, personal expenses and salaries, education outside New Zealand.
The following must be included with the application:
– An outline of the project and expected benefits
– The total expenditure required
– Amount in hand
– Contribution being made by applicant
– Most recent annual balance sheet
– Government subsidy, if any
– List of applications to other funding sources and amount
– Written reference from a responsible citizen
– Charities Commission number (if applicable)
The duration is for one year, with the grant amount being up to $1,500.

Boarding Bursaries
The fund aims to:
Assist a Year 9 or 10 student living away from home in a boarding situation with financial assistance.
The following is required:
NZ citizen, Year 9 or 10, living away from home
A letter outlining the reasons for needing financial assistance, written by a parent or caregiver
A supporting letter from the principal or a current teacher
Previous results/last school report/academic reference
Character reference from a member of Rural Women New Zealand, outlining the need for assistance
Character reference from another responsible citizen (non-family member) who is known to the applicant.
Applications close 30th September.
The duration of this bursary is one year, with $900 available each year, up to a maximum of 4 years.

Regional Bursaries
The fund aims to:
assist in the education, health, and welfare of women and families in North Taranaki.
The following is required:
NZ citizen, priority is given to members of Rural Women New Zealand and their families, located in North Taranaki.
Applications should include details of the applicant’s financial situation and their degree of need for funding assistance.
This grant is open all year round.
Grant is variable, case-by-case.

The fund aims to:
encourage residents of Hawke’s Bay to undertake further education or training in land-based courses, either through university or polytechnic institutes.
Bursary recipients will ideally seek employment in the Hawke’s Bay area to ensure that the benefits of their learning can be passed on to the Hawke’s Bay community and its industries.
The following is required:
NZ citizens, tertiary students studying fulltime and completed first year of study.
Applicants must live within the district boundaries of Wairoa, Napier, Hastings or Central Hawkes Bay,
study should be in the agricultural or horticultural fields.
Applicants will be required to attend an interview
Applications close 15th of January.

The fund aims to:
Provide a monetary bursary for any person who lives in the Rangitikei- Oroua Provincial Rural Women’s area, who is undertaking an education course in agriculture, horticulture, or related subjects.
The following is required:
Priority to members of RWNZ and their families;
Located in Rangitikei Oroua Provincial RWNZ Area,
Undertaking courses in agriculture, horticulture, or related subjects.
Applications should include details of the applicant’s financial situation and their degree of need for funding assistance.
Applications close 31st of January.
Value is at the discretion of the Adna Poppe Memorial Bursary Committee.

The fund aims to:
encourage women seeking advancement in the workforce to obtain qualifications to improve their career opportunities, independence and career development.
This grant will be awarded to one applicant each year, and women who wish to complete a tertiary study programme to assist in their entry into, or return to, the workforce are invited to apply.
The following is required:
– NZ citizen, 25 years +
– Short or long term courses w/ recognised education provider
– Applicants must live and/or intend to work in the Coromandel, Thames, or BOP regions.
– A letter outlining the reasons you require this financial assistance, the reasons for your course of study (or proposed course of study) and your intended use of the qualification
– Copies of your previous relevant qualifications, results, or an academic reference.
– A profile outlining past achievements, proposed study programme, educational goals and long term objectives.
– Two written references including contact details for referees
– Proof of enrolment at the University or Polytechnic where the studies will be undertaken.
– Applicants may be required to attend an interview
This is a $2000 per year (2yr grant).

The fund aims to:
assist with the purchase of tertiary textbook and resources, including software.
The following is required:
– Open to NZ citizens. Applicants must live in the Tararua or Central Hawkes Bay areas.
– A letter written by the applicant outlining the course of study, the reasons for requiring financial assistance, and desired vocation at the completion of study.
– A character reference written by someone unrelated to the applicant
– A copy of the most recent grades and qualifications. If no study has been completed, please provide an outline of life skills acquired.
– A character reference from a responsible officer of a Rural Women New Zealand Branch outlining the circumstances of the family and the need for assistance with the applicant’s education.
The value is at the discretion of the Tararua Bursary Committee.

The fund aims to:
give people the opportunity to extend their education or training in order to improve their level of skills.
The following is required:
NZ citizen, 25 year +, short or long term courses w/ recognised education provider
Open to residents of smaller towns and rural areas on the West Coast of the South Island.
Applicants must indicate the benefit of their study to the wider community as well as to their own personal development.
The value of this bursary is $500.

Subject Specific Bursaries
The fund aims to:
available to applicants aged 25 years and over, who seek to extend their education or training in areas of study that will be of benefit rural communities.
This includes subjects such as midwifery, agriculture and horticulture.
The following is required:
NZ citizens, 25 years +
Course of study must be of benefit to rural communities, at an approved tertiary institution, long- or short-course eligible.
Study must be undertaken at an approved tertiary institution.
Any long- or short-course of study is eligible.

Character reference from another responsible citizen (non-family member), from someone who is known to the applicant
This grant closes 30th October.
This is a $600, one year grant.

The fund aims to:
a one-off, one-year bursary available to students undertaking a full-time course of at least one year in an agricultural subject. This includes related studies such as horticulture, veterinary, bee keeping, aqua farming and viticulture.
The following is required:
NZ citizens, enrolled in a full-time course for at least one year.
Courses must be in an agriculture-related area of study.
A character reference from a responsible officer of a Rural Women New Zealand Branch outlining the circumstances of the family and the need for assistance with the applicant’s education.
A character reference from another responsible citizen to whom the applicant is known.
Proof of course enrolment from the relevant University, Polytechnic or College.
A copy of the previous years’ study results or the last school report (if within three years), or an academic reference.
This grant closes 1st of March.
This is a $1,000, one year grant.

offer people the opportunity to extend their education, specifically in nursing related courses of study.
The following is required:
NZ citizens, study must be nursing related at an approved tertiary institution.
Preference will be given to applicants from smaller towns and rural areas.
Two character references from responsible citizens to whom the applicant is known.
Proof of course enrolment from the relevant University, Polytechnic or College.
A copy of previous academic results.Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to study and should hold future career prospects in rural health, as well as having an interest in rural communities.

This grant closes 1st of July (biennially, even-years)
