Rural Women New Zealand National Councillor and Vice President, Kerry Maw has been appointed to the Associated Country Women (ACWW) of the World UN Committee for the next three years.

Rural Women supported Kerry’s nomination to the UN Committee. She was officially appointed at the conclusion of the 2013 ACWW Board meeting at the conclusion of the World Conference in Chennai, India.

As a committee member, Kerry will cover her own travel and other costs.

The committee also supports the UN’s eight Millennium Development Goals, which include eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, improving maternal health, promoting gender equality and empowering women.

Kerry expressed an interest in joining the ACWW UN Committee after attending the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York in 2011
