As a critical partner to New Zealand’s primary industries, AWDT develops the capability and confidence of 50% of the people in those industries – women.

From dairy to red meat, honey to horticulture, our primary industries are undergoing transformation. They need to harness the talent and potential of 100% of their people to maximise opportunities and meet challenges.

From AWDT’s research and experience over the last seven years we know that many women can and want to add value to their farming businesses, communities and industries but often lack the confidence and know-how to contribute.

Women often enter primary industries ‘by default’, rather than ‘by design’. They fall love with their farming partners and end up living rurally, often separated from their families, friends and careers.

When women gain confidence and skills and find purpose and meaning, contribute more strongly to the success of their businesses, communities and industries. AWDT provides a trusted and enabling environment for all women in primary industries to realise their potential and grow their sectors.
